- What do you like most about being an SLP?
I most enjoy seeing my clients meet their goals and have it
impact their lives in a positive way! I also really enjoy interacting with my
clients and their families.
- What made you decide to become an SLP?
I decided to become a speech language pathologist because I
liked helping people, working with children, and making a difference.
- What is a day in the life of an SLP
like?
It totally depends on where I am that day, but either way it
is always something different! One great part of being an SLP at LLA Therapy is
I'm able to see a variety of different types of clients and a variety of age
groups.
- What is an SLP topic you are passionate
about and why?
I am passionate about early identification of
speech-language disorders in children because early identification and
intervention can truly make a giant difference in overall progress and outcome.
- What kinds of school or educational
problems might be treated by an SLP?
Working in a middle school for 4 days a week, I typically
work with a variety of educational problems, including reading comprehension,
following directions, acquisition and use of vocabulary, and writing.
- What advice do you have for parents who
are seeking a Speech, Language, or Hearing evaluation?
Don't be afraid to ask questions and be sure to let the SLP
know about any and all concerns you have. The more information they have about
the concerns you're seeing, the better and more appropriate your child's
evaluation will be.
