Meet Our Newest OT!

LLA is excited to introduce the newest member of our staff. Please join us in welcoming Jessica Glenbocki, our newest Occupational Therapist. She will be working in our Medina and Fairlawn offices. We wanted to get to know her a bit, so we asked her some questions about to find out more about her.

"Jessica graduated from Cleveland State University in 2008 with a Master’s in Occupational Therapy. She has 7 years experience working with pediatric clients and families. She has post-graduate training in the theory and principles of sensory integration intervention, and received her SIPT (Sensory Integration and Praxis Test) certification in August of 2014. When not treating clients, she enjoys hiking, biking, and traveling with her husband."

What drew you to LLA?

I really enjoy working with children and families so I wanted to focus just on pediatrics. LLA is all about helping children and families so it just seemed like a good fit. It also doesn't hurt that I live in Medina so it’s close to home:)

What do you like most about being an OT?

I love working with kids and feeling like I am making a difference in their lives! It brings me great joy to see the accomplishments in their lives once they have the tools and help they need.

What is an OT topic you are passionate about and why?

About 2 years ago I received my certification in Sensory Integration to administer the SIPT test. So I love helping kids with sensory integration deficits. The treatments are a lot of fun because the kids are performing activities on swings, playground equipment, etc to activate their sensory systems appropriately.

What made you decide to become an OT?

I love helping others and making a positive impact in client's lives.

What are some ways that you make therapy fun?

I use a lot of multi-sensory approaches such as writing in different textures (paint, whip cream, sand) educational games, and sensory/gross motor activities. I try to gear therapy to what the child enjoys. I also try to be upbeat and excited during sessions.

Tell us a little about yourself:

I have been an OT for almost 7 years, primarily in the out-patient setting working with adults and children. My personal interests and hobbies include anything outdoors, like biking, hiking, running. My husband and I enjoy traveling. Our favorite places to vacation are Arizona, Utah, and Florida.  I have a dog (Marley) and a cat (Cole) that are my only babies right now:)
